Christantus Uche Sparks Comfortable Palace Win at Irish Side Shelbourne.

Even though entering their maiden continental adventure, Crystal Palace are learning very quickly. Without star figures like forward Jean-Philippe Mateta and wing-back Daniel Muñoz, the London club left Dublin with a comfortable result that all but secures them a place in the Europa Conference League qualifying rounds.

A further three points in their next match against Finnish KuPS ought to be sufficient to seal direct entry to the knockout stages, especially following a prior stumble against Strasbourg.

Fringe Players Seize the Opportunity

This match offered a chance for several Palace's lesser-used talent to shine. Christantus Uche, making only his second beginning since arriving on loan from Getafe, opened the account with a clinical goal. Striker Eddie Nketiah contributed a another, scoring for the second game in succession.

The contest was as good as over eight minutes from half-time. Yeremy Pino meandered past some weak challenges before coolly dispatching a shot past goalkeeper Wessel Speel to make it 3-0.

Following the break, manager Oliver Glasner took the chance to withdraw key players like Kamada and Wharton. Replacement Romain Esse came close to scoring his first touch, only to see his effort blocked.

The youngster was incredibly unlucky later on, seeing one attempt crash off both posts before being clasped on the line. Uche then blazed a glaring chance, showing there is still scope for development in his game.

The only concern for Palace was a second-half knock to Justin Devenny, who was forced off. This allowed 17-year-old forward Benji Casey to earn his first-team debut, capping an otherwise positive evening for the traveling side.
